What’s the Point? is the signature wine of the Alexander Vineyards Premium Collection, a unique Sauvignon Blanc that brings together fruit from two of South Africa’s most iconic coastal points: Cape Point and Cape Agulhas.

For centuries, Cape Point has been popularly mistaken for the southernmost tip of Africa and the meeting place of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. That distinction belongs further south, to Cape Agulhas. What’s the Point? plays on this enduring misconception, bringing these two remarkable coastal origins together in a wine that is uniquely ours.

Cool maritime conditions shape the fruit from both regions, while cold fermentation preserves its bright aromatics and time on the lees builds texture and depth. Crisp and expressive, with ripe tropical fruit, vibrant acidity and a distinctive sherbet-tinged finish, it captures the freshness and character of South Africa’s southern coastline.

Two points. One wine. Uniquely Alexander.

Tasting Notes

Grape varietals: Sauvignon Blanc

Cape Point and Cape Agulhas', coastal climates shape this wine’s distinctive maritime character.

Cape gooseberry, kiwi and granadilla lift the nose. The palate is bright with sherbet notes and ripe pineapple, while crisp green apple and lime acidity provide length and freshness.

Winemaking Process

Hand-harvested Sauvignon Blanc from Cape Point and Cape Agulhas is brought together to create our unique expression of these two iconic coastal origins. The fruit is settled for two days before cold fermentation at 11°C, preserving its bright aromatics and freshness. Each component is matured for four months on fine lees with monthly bâtonnage to build texture and depth, before the two points are blended and filtered ahead of bottling for aromatic clarity and a clean, vibrant finish.
